Just a quick note to say that I’m heading to Barcelona today for WordCamp Spain on Saturday! 🙂 It’s gonna be awesome and I will post my slides and experiences here afterwards. I’ll be presenting on WooTumblog and Post Formats, as well as the Express for WordPress iPhone app. Check out more details here: http://wordcamp.es/ (you might wanna do it through Google Translate for english).
Came across this interesting WordPress infographic that show just how dominant WordPress truly is in the CMS marketplace. I’m not 100% sure about the stat’s and/or where the data was collected from, but my hunch is that this is true or is pretty close to it! Continue reading “Interesting WordPress Infographic”

I’ve been doing some modifications to the default WordPress Twenty Ten theme and I needed a custom taxonomy page template for my taxonomy archives – taxonomy.php – to take advantage of the WordPress template hierarchy. So I made a generic one for the Twenty Ten theme seeing as it doesn’t come with one. So now your custom taxonomy archive pages don’t have to say “Blog Archives”, instead with this it will output the Taxonomy as well as the Term, similar to the Category archive page. Simply download the file below, extract it, and put taxonomy.php in the root of your Twenty Ten theme!
(download removed – this has been retired) Continue reading “Twenty Ten Custom Taxonomy Template”
Just saw this from the guys at wpmu.org – Membership Lite. It’s a membership plugin much like others (Wishlist Member, Magic Members), but this one seems to be free and actually looks really good! Plus it’s in the WordPress repository. I’m gonna give it a try for sure and will post my thoughts when I’m done. Anyone else used it?
I recently got interviewed by Dan Milward for GetShopped.org as part of their 12 Awesome Examples of Custom Post Types article, in particular the innovative ways we’ve implemented them at WooThemes. I gave him the low down on what we did with Estate and the Tumblog themes. There’s some really interesting examples in the article, check it out. Thanks Dan!
Something I found useful while brushing up on my PHP MVC knowledge was this book by Packt Publishing. It’s called CodeIgniter 1.7 and takes you through the fundamental concepts of MVC within the CodeIgniter framework including a chapter on basic CRUD functions. Continue reading “CodeIgniter Learning”
I recently purchased the treasure from Bundle Hunt and found the contents to be pretty rad. I’m particulary looking forward to getting to grips with Billings (a invoicing, project management, time tracking app for mac/iPhone), Subernova (online project management tool), and reading the Smashing Magazine ebook on Mastering Photoshop. The Bundle Hunt concept seems similar to the whole MacHeist vibe, and includes some other useful design stuff like icons and WordPress themes. Continue reading “Bundle Hunt”
